ABOUT THE EXAM
OET is available for 12 healthcare professions including Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and others. The exam consists of four parts: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, all using healthcare scenarios.
Listening and Reading are common for all professions, while Writing and Speaking are profession-specific. Results are given as grades from A (highest) to E, with most regulatory bodies requiring grade B. The certificate is valid for 2 years.

WHAT SKILLS DOES OET TEST?
OET tests English communication skills in realistic healthcare workplace scenarios. All tasks are based on situations you will encounter in your profession.
LISTENING
Understanding patient consultations, healthcare professional discussions, and medical presentations. Focus on extracting key clinical information.
READING
Comprehending healthcare texts including patient information, research summaries, and workplace policies. Quick extraction of relevant details.
WRITING
Writing profession-specific letters (referral, discharge, transfer) based on case notes. Clear, concise, and appropriate medical communication.
SPEAKING
Role-plays simulating patient consultations. Building rapport, explaining conditions, discussing treatment options, and addressing patient concerns.
